My name is Kyle Hesterman and this is my 3rd year teaching and my first year teaching 1st Grade! I spent the past 2 years teaching Kindergarten on the Ft. Riley Military Base at Ware Elementary School. I am a graduate of Kansas State University and before that I spent two years at Bethany College where I played basketball. I grew up in a small town here in Kansas named Kensington. I feel very fortunate to be teaching in the Andover School District!
During my free time, I enjoy working out/boxing, playing guitar, and reading. I am going to be getting married in May. My fiance is actually a 1st Grade teacher in Derby and she is also a Kansas State graduate. So we keep busy with wedding plans and looking for a house in the area.
I feel that the reason I chose education as a career was the influece that I had from all of my teachers growing up, including my own Mother as a 2nd Grade teacher. I was fortunate enough to have teachers when I went through school who were caring, knowledgeable, and hard-working! I feel this also influenced me to choose education as a career.
My goal is to take all that I have learned and use it to give my students the best education I can. I feel that it is extremely important for a young person to learn respecting one's self and others is crucial. So along with a positive classroom experience, I also like to take plenty of time discussing respect. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through school email or phone. I know that if parents and teachers work together, the success a student can experience is great!!!!!!
